Open channel flowmeters are devices used to measure the flow rate of liquid or fluid flowing along a specific flow path, on a volumetric or mass basis. These types of flowmeters are generally designed for measuring fluid in open environments such as sewer systems, storm water drainage, irrigation canals, rivers or streams.
